Machine Doubling. Since it's on the incused devices, the devices will be doubled (the opposite of non incused devices being reduced). Machine Doubling is very common on ATB Quarters. About 75 percent I believe have this Machine Doubling.

The devices on the outside ring of the ATB Quarters are incuse. (sunk into the coin) The dies are a negative of a coin. Sot if a device is raised on a coin, it is incuse (sunk into the die) If the devices are incuse, they are raised on the die. So when the dies move slightly on the incuse devices, they enlarged the devices with an extra outline or alter them just a bit. This happens about 70% of the time on these quarters.

Note the Machine Doubling that enlarged these devices. (very common to find on these quarters. Note doubled die, just altered during the striking process)

This one show a bit of slide doubling leaving striation lines.

You're very welcome. You can thank Coop as well for the very helpful and easy to understand demonstration on Machine Doubling. Thank you Coop for covering this.
