1981 Proof Set - Can Anyone Help Me Identify Type 1 Or 2?

Alpha2814 Pillar of the Community United States 2023 Posts	Posted 03/08/2018 12:03 pm I agree, Type 1. The distinction between them can be subtle. I bought an uncertified SBA Type 2 last year for my album and spent an awfully long time comparing it to online pictures to prove to myself that it really was Type 2. Depending on how I held the light, sometimes it looked like a Type 1, sometimes like a Type 2. I had to get my slabbed versions for a better comparison and even then it was a challenge to tell. I'm going by the size of the "bulb" on the top of the S. On Type 2, it's more pronounced, noticeably bigger/wider than the rest of the letter. Yours are pretty consistent in width.
