i have seen these pop up for sale recently , just wondered if anyone has any thoughts on how this could happen in the printing process. ( edited )

Hello and

I have heard that it's possible to rub the printing off polymer notes with an ordinary pencil eraser:

ive seen the pencil eraser thing , but the notes look a mess after that, the ones on sale are totally clear of any print and look as though they have never had any print on them to start with.

On the Australian Polymer notes, some despicable people are removing details with acetone, then trying to pass them as 'errors'.

May be what's happening in the UK.

Acetone will do the job of removing ink without leaving marks.

i have seen a science lab completely remove all print from a polymer note leaving it transparent see through with nitric acid , the white backing on the uk polymer would also be removed if you try to remove just the print I am assuming with acetone or any other chemical , and you would notice blotching all over the note , I am assuming much as I am not a note person

The security printing process for First World currency goes through an inspection process several times before a note gets shipped out the doors in an armored truck.

If genuine, this should be called Printer's Waste, it is not a error. This 'note' never got out the door legitimately.

These are fakes, designed and made to defraud collectors. Avoid them, and inform authorities when you encounter one.

well there is one thing certain , they are very strange and to not destroy the note and make it look like a bulls lug if indeed they have been doctored is fascinating , I cant work out how it can be done without smudging and an obvious tampering is happening . on the translucent error notes , the holograms remain but that is all.
even the white underpin colour has completely gone on these .
i am undecided but some do look very odd

If you want to buy one of them, it's your money, but remember, you're giving money to a fraud. You might as well just burn your own money, save the price of the postage, for all the good it will do for you.

Good reason never to buy from anyone with less than 99.8% positives.
