Nice coin, certainly fine but the question is about the mint mark. The S looks "funky", just normal wear and tear?

normal looking for rgat date. I reallt like that one, light circulation for a very tough date, good natural skin and condition. May I suggest giving it an acetone bath, will get that "dusty" looking stuff off and make that brown pop out. I'll venture a guess at VF35 or even better.

Work for the kidney foundation? Great worthy outfit! My wife's on dialysis, know all about it.

@kidney, I'm not sure about the mintmark, but I did want to comment on your above-average photographic skills. Nice job showing us your coin.

I've read that acetone is not recommended for copper coins on this site. Is there any chance this beautiful Lincoln could be damaged by soaking it in acetone?

I've seen no ill effects using acetone on coins that already have the natural brown copper toning.

Coins still showing the bright shiny red copper surface, I found acetone can alter or adversely tone the surface, if not handled properly. Thanks, Doug.

A note on your thread title "1911 S LMC Mint Mark question".

Should be LWC for Lincoln Wheat cent. LMC is for Lincoln Memorial cent of course.
