I agree with the Student. Rev of 1838. I think you paid a very good price for this one! XF-45

I'm a bit concerned about the blue look of the coin on those angle shots. It might be the pictures but the toning doesn't look natural. That or perhaps it was scrubbed with baking soda at one point. The strike is great so I think I'm seeing more rub than strike issues. I would be at x-40.

I'd think you could get an easy $1000.00 for it as is. Put it in a slab and 1200.00+ would not be out of the question. Cool story that this coin was minted at the New Orleans mint. The following copied and pasted from the Heritage site:

Initially, no one noticed something was missing when an 1839 reverse die was re-purposed in 1840 at the New Orleans Mint. Seated halves struck from the die had no mintmark. The omission gives the variety extra popularity with collectors -- both for its missing mintmark and for its Bust-style reverse. The reverse is heavily cracked, and it is perhaps even more amazing that the reverse die was used one more time as part of Die Pair 12 for the issue.

I would send this coin to a TPG, considering the value.
