Question: I'm confused. Were there two different style 1834 Capped Bust Half Dimes minted? See the below two ebay listings. Thanks

I am no expert but I think the first link is a fake. That brings up another question, why would you make a fake Half Dime?
Rest in Peace

Yes Tom there were. The 3 has an inverted variety. 2nd pix it isn't, 1st can't tell being angled, but think it is the invert, no knobs on tails. I wonder why the angle too?

But, if you notice the reverse didn't you?

I'm not an expect either. That's why I'm asking. I was doing a search for any Capped Bust Half Dimes and these came up. Trust me, I'm not in the market for any fakes. I just need a reality check.

Thanks Crazyb0! I'm looking in the RedBook, Capped Bust Half Dimes look like they go from 1829-1837 with the eagle on the rev. Then it looked like it changed to " Half Dime" on the rev. starting in 1837.

BTW: Did you get my e-mail yesterday?

#1 is a Capped Bust obverse with a Seated Liberty reverse.
Weird! And fake!

The first one is as fake as a 1903-CC Morgan dollar.

As of now both linked listings show 1834 Half Dimes with correct reverses. Both coins look OK to me. I'm also not seeing harsh cleaning although I'd want better pictures of #1 before considering a bid.

Okay, now I'm really confused!

Oh, man! I just went back in. The first link (the $80.00 coin) was change. It had " Half Dime" on the rev. Now it has the eagle. Maybe the guy had the pictures mixed-up?

Yes, seems like #1 seller changed the reverse pictures?

The website http://www.everythinghalfdimes.com/ is one to look at when you need information on Capped Bust Half Dimes. The owner of that site has made images which help in the attribution of the many varieties.
