Hello Forum

I have a 1944 penny with damage to the "L"in Liberty and missing "T" in trust. I would like your thoughts on what is going on with the coin. Thanks for the help!

Looks like a circulation hit pushed most of the L toward the rim, although a greased-filled die is also a possibility.

The T seems to be missing due to a grease-filled die, but the shadow of the rim makes it hard to say whether the L was hit or also poorly struck at the mint.

Thanks! I thought the "t"might be a Grease Filled Die as it looks like the "U&S" might be slightly impacted by the grease filled due as well.

Or even damaged from a vending machine. (it is in the range where you could actually buy something for a cent) Gum, peanuts or probably more. (I wasn't born yet when this coin was struck)
