Anyone have any pics they can post that show the difference between these 2 grades?

I've seen pictures of DMPL'S
The Deep Mirror Proof Like stands out (raised, reflection etc) -

How can you distinguish the MS65 from the Proof Like Morgan?

Anything in particular to look for that stands out between these 2 grades?

Chuckster 125,

Technically these aren't mutually exclusive. The grade MS-65 indicates a well above average strike and few if any bag/contact marks. This can also vary year to year and mint to mint (i.e. some O mintmark Morgans were weakly struck and an MS-65 from New Orleans may not look as sharp as a coin from the Philly mint).

Proof-like and Deep Mirror Proof-like designations refer to the contrast between the devices (letters, portrait, eagle, wreaths, etc.) and the fields. When making proofs, the mint highly polishes the dies and attempts to get a mirror finish on the fields and frosty devices. This creates a black and white contrast. For business strikes, the first coins off the dies may exhibit a proof-like appearance (mirror fields and frosty devices). For a DMPL designation, I believe you must be able to read the print on a standard business card reflected in the fields at a distance of 6 inches or more.

The MS grade refers to the strike and current condition of the coin. PL and DMPL refer to the contrast and reflectivity. Keep your eyes open for the MS-65DMPL coins.

4 inches for PL, 8 inches for dmpl. PCGS likes the raw coin to have watery mirrors and have a certain look to it, otherwise mirror depth just doesn't cut it.

I just wish I owned PL
If I had the $$$ it would be graded by PCGS MS-68 DMPL (since this is a dream) then its only 1 in the world if I had my choice!

Here's a picture of a pl that I owned at 2 seperate times (and maybe one day a third ). The first time it was graded ms66dmpl in an old ngc holder, the second time it was in an NGC ms67*Pl holder, and I think that grade was right (the mirrors were only about 6 inches deep).
