One of the people on the Oztion http://www.oztion.com.au/Community/...n&tid=245061coin forum found a missing toe on the 2007 platypus. Going through my stash of 2007 20c I found something similar on the other foot - half missing and short toes.

Anyone else have a short toes?

I've noticed these short toes on quite a few 2007 20¢.

I haven't checked if they were thin 7 or thick 7 coins though.

When 2007 20¢ first started showing up, I found many coins with a lot of the outside 'toe'of the left foot almost missing, just a couple little 'knobs' left, see below.

I refer to it as skeleton claw. It occurs on both thin 7 & thick 7 coins.

Ah okay thanks. I believe the short toes on the left foot also show on both thin and thick 7.

I have 2 short toes in my thin 7 collection. Have not noticed it on the thick 7 yet.

All the 'short toe' coins I kept are thin 7.

Anyone else found any 'skeleton claw'?

No, have not found any more skeleton claws nancy other than the one you sent me
How many have you got?
I posted a pic of your coin on a oztion thread today, hope you don't mind. I cropped it up so only to show the error.
Was purely to help out an old chat buddy, so she could verify what she had, and sent credits your way

farnby, no worries, post away.

I have:

11 x Short toes all thin 7
11 x Skeleton claw thin 7 + 2 at lesser stages (3 of 11 given away)
1 x Skeleton claw thick 7 + 8 at lesser stages

By the way, Skeleton Claw also occurs in earlier years, from 2001 - 2006, but not as dramatically as 2007. A couple 2005 examples I have are pretty close.

So what is everyone's figures on the Thin Thick ratio? I'm currently 60% thin to 40 % thick varieties, from roughly 200 looked at.

I know of at least 1 collector who is getting much larger quantities of thick type compared to thin at the moment.

Anyone else notice this recently?

60% thin to 40 % thick varieties sounds about right to me. I haven't kept count lately, but thin do slighly outnumber thick.
