Hi, can anyone point me to a detailed diagnostic of this variety, or perhaps you can answer my question from your own experience?

I have been comparing the "normal" 1934 to the 1934/33 3d and I'm finding that the overdate coin has a slightly different position on the 4 in the date. Using image overlays, the overdate 4 seems to be spaced slightly further from the 3. This may simply be due to the photos I'm using, but if this variety has a specific date position, that would be very useful info to me. Thanks!

The normal 34 3d has a variety as well. There is the close arrow variety as well as a normal spaced one.
The arrow is the one closest to the last digit, the 4. Have a close arrow variety somewhere, will get a pic done soon.
There is also the tilted to the left 4, I think
The 33/34 overdate.

Gnome,
Thanks for the pic! Dropping your photo over another 1934/3 and the "normal" date appears to support the overdate was spaced slightly differently. However, that's just a guess at this point...it could still be the photos.

Been doing a bit of a search around for you Kurt, but can't even find a decent study of the 33/34 od 3d. Most studies written seem to deal more with the 22/21 od 3d.
Here's an interesting read on our overdate practices.

Thanks for looking! I began my search there and have since found about 6 different images to compare.

Wow...very interesting! Am I seeing wider spacing between 3 and 4 for the "close arrow" variety?
I think I used that variety to compare as a "normal", and found the 34/33 still slightly wider spaced.
This reminds me of date positions for Canadian coins of this period--there are quite a few spacing variations.

Farnbycoins--thanks!, if that third link is the overdate, it sure is subtle.
