*** Edited by Staff to Add Year / Mintmark / Denomination to Title. Titles are Important! ***

Please excuse my question as I am relatively new to coin collection. Hence, in the past I was a stamp man! This is a 1968-D (filled Mint). Although, I have only been really collecting U.S. coins for about a year but I have always looked at my pocket change out of pure curiosity for a coin that when you flip to the reverse die is not upside down. I found this one, although it is not upside down to the front but struck 20% or so leaning to the left. Is this common? I cannot find any info about this. I'm learning as I go so any help would be appreciated. Thanks. Fyi. This is how the reverse would look it you flipped it evenly from the front to back.

15% or less is considered within normal range for die rotation. Yours appears to be in that range.

45% and more is when notice is taken for them. How much is 45 degrees?

Thanks. What do you call these types or of sorts? This is not 45 degree. Maybe 30 degree at it's best. I need to measure by mm.

There's a handy tool in this thread to help measure rotation: http://goccf.com/t/297992&whichpage=1

While it may not be a valuable error coin, it's still a fun find. It's as good as any I've found so far.

You should include the date, mintmark, and the denomination in your titles.

Why Topic Titles are Important

The title of your topic is very important. Let's say you need help attributing an 1896 Morgan Dollar....

  • Horrendous: Help!

  • Bad: Need help with coin

  • Better: Need help with Morgan Dollar

  • Good: Need help with 1896 Morgan Dollar

  • Awesome: Need help with VAM on 1896 Morgan Dollar

This enables the members with expertise pertaining to your question to easily find and answer your question. The title of the topic also becomes the title of the topic's web page, which enables us to attract more collectors to the site. The more members we have, the more we learn.
