What direction do you see the second D punched in? I see a bulge in the middle of the vertical bar of the D and a distended upper right corner of the D. What I don't see is clear separation of a second image.

I am only suggesting that this is what he sees. If it isn't what he sees, then I would look here:-) If I were looking at this coin I would be curious about this spot. I can't say for sure what it is but it should be looked at. Scroll back up to his picture to see what I lined over.
Thanks, Bill

That is actually interesting. I'd like to get a closer look at this one.
As for anything else on the coin, I see nothing but a typical 1946D cent with (very typical) extreme die wear.

My only question with ANACS designations on these things is what listing do they use to decide what RPM-10 it is?
To me (and this is just talking about the slab, not the coin) RPM-10 doesn't mean anything unless we know what guide was used to attribute it. On these things, one person's RPM-10 might be someone elses RPM-2 for example.
Does anyone know definitively what listings ANACS uses or do they just make the numbers up based upon some list that they create?
Thanks, Bill

Hello
I would like to know the exact diagnostics for an RPM Is the repunch random ? Could in be in any location ? Is it just doubling of the original MM ? I see a possible MM in that black and white pic. (outlined area) Could that be a possible S MM ? If there are two different and distinct MM's is that one or the only attribute of an RPM ? Curious. Nice to know.

Actually I wanted to know if that would be called a MM over (as in a date over) The diff. between the RPM and Over mark.

From the ANACS web site- Quote:"Verification of varieties and other well-documented attributions. This includes VAM numbers, Overton numbers, Fivaz-Stanton varieties, Sheldon and Newcomb numbers, Cohen, Bolender, Breen, Flynn, Snow and more." They have attributed 20 of these according to their web site, with MS66 being the top pop.

Its not a Breen number, his numbers look like #1111. Its not a Fivaz-Stanton number (not even listed in my Cherry Pickers Guide), I guess it could be from CONECA's site (RPM-010 is listed as D/D Southeast).

Thats what I mean:-) We can't even find what list it was designated from. What happens if it shows up on two or three different lists. Which one do they ultimately use? I suggested it was an RPM but I don't know what reference they used to call it RPM-10.
Anyway. It is a nice coin!
have Fun, Bill

Hi, I just talked to ANACS (Michael Fahey) and they use the listings as found in James Wiles book on Lincoln Cent RPMs for the designation on the RPM-10. They also tie in with the listings on the CONECA website. So, we now have a clue. By how Michael said it, it sounds as though some are designated specifically from James' book while some may be designated using other references such as those mentioned above. So this specific designation for this coin used Dr. James Wiles' book for the number. Thanks, Bill

So is the doubling in this coin the ghost D outline that Bill highlighted?
