Looking to start putting some of my coins in flips. I found a pretty good deal with 2x2 flips that are vinyl. I thought that the vinyl flips were soft and no good for safe storage. But, they say "Made with archival safe crystal clear vinyl plastic which is chemically inert & PVC free" I was told the hard plastic ones were the way to go. It says that "Made with archival safe crystal clear vinyl plastic which is chemically inert & PVC free" 1. Bottom line, what is the safest way to? 2. I also use trays and want to put paper labeling under the coins. Will the paper damage the coin over time? I'm using copy paper. 3. I also use capsules for my favorite coins. Like so: Edited by travelcoin 03/22/2018 5:54 pm

I prefer 2 x 2's, the plastic capsules take up a lot of space and after a time crack from being handled. 2 x 2's are cheap.

Clear flips can be made from other materials that are not clear soft PolyVinylChloride.
OK to ship coins in PVC flips, and to store them in PVC flips for a short time only. It is the softening plasticizer oil in PVC that is the culprit, not the chloride. It leaches and gasses out in the long term.
I don't know, but I suspect that the flips that you have are not made from soft PVC. They are probably made from clear Acetate plastic, which is OK long term for coins. Lots of flips are made from this material, food container boxes are made from acetate plastic.
Somewhat self contradicting description for a material that is made from "vinyl plastic, which is PVinylC free".

Echizento, mine haven't cracked yet. But I try not to take them in and out a lot (but I have). The capsules are much more expensive too.
So I'm guessing they are OK, Here's the complete description:
_ (100) new crystal clear 2" X 2" double pocket unplasticized vinyl coin flips.
_ Made with archival safe crystal clear vinyl plastic which is chemically inert & PVC free.

I believe they don't even make PVC Flips or sleeves anymore ,as long as you buy from a reputable coin supply dealer you should not have any problems . One that I use : https://www.wizardcoinsupply.com

I'm also trying to find a pocket page for my binder that displays both sides of the 2x2 flips. Like this Littleton case. I haven't found one yet. If anyone knows what they are called or where I could get one let me know. Thanks

All of my coins are in Abafil trays in an Abafil briefcase. This works very well for display and there is no barrier to my handling the coins.

Orfew, I like it. But, I don't have enough coins yet for something like that.

"... Paper Flips ... Window is made of crystal clear archival polyester ..." https://www.bcwsupplies.com/coin-suppliesQ/ Why do I worry about the adhesive in the new peel'n'stick paper flips? Cheers, /s/ ikeyPikey (whose happy they still sell the old staple type)
