thank you, but how come 1997 penny has the same earlobe(check vista)and it's called double ear and this is part of a design, does not make sense to me, sorry. thanks.

The one on Variety Vista looks different, as it is doubled. Yours is a normal 2000 LMC. |

Doesn't look the same to me either. I know coop has a graphic of the doubled ears that may help you.

Looks like a contact mark that flattened the ear on the left side of that area. (mark is incuse)

Every time Crazy posts that as ALL the known ears it drives me "crazy" as there are quite a lot of them not among those 16. What about 1944 WDDO-020 for example? That's not a trivial doubled ear, among the others, like 1982-D DDO-001 and 1999 WDDO-001. Nice list but far from a complete accounting of the things.

Thank you all guys very much. May be I am wrong, but the idea of double earlobe is there, of course it's not on one of those pictures, which I am familiar with and looked at many times before, but I still have a very little hope and may be I will have more pictures, but later. thanks again.

Hi Chase! Well, I did just contribute to completing the list by naming three of them instead of just saying it wasn't complete. And here are three more: 1984 WDDO-008, 2001 WDDO-002 and 2009EC WDDO-005. I don't keep some kind of list of these things, but I attribute a lot of doubled dies and see doubled ear listings fairly regularly. I have no idea how many total there are but it is not just 16 of them.
I should add that I think it is GREAT that folks like the OP are looking at and questioning possible new doubled ears, as I do believe there are a number of them yet to be found.

Keep in mind a doubled die shows a spread on the devices. It is not the damage to a coin that makes it a doubled ear. It is the hub doubling that makes a doubled ear:  PSD does not enlarge/cause a spread/doubling on these devices. Hub doubling does. If there is no spread, it is a normal die coin example.Edited by coop
