Hello I'm JT I'm extremely green on collecting coins it's something I just took interest in about a week ago so please take it easy on me. I've found a 1981d Lincoln Penny that is obviously struck slightly off center as a result one side of the edge is slightly thicker than the other but to me something about the toning possibly seems off as well like I said I'm no expert but this coin definitely stuck out to me when I found it on the ground the other day. Please enlighten me as to why this penny looks the way it does and if it possibly has any value. Thank you.

(Pictures are not as good of quality as I'd like but the characteristics I've stated are clearly noticable)

Looks pretty much like a normal coin. I can see finger prints above the nose area on the coin. The darker color on the reverse is just something was altered the surface somewhere down the line on the coin. Nothing special, but it is a copper planchet cent.
Rest in Peace

outside of the bridge of the nose polished off, it seems normal with current images. Off center is having both obverse and reverse dies off in one direction or another.

If the edge thickness differs it's a possible tapered planchet or struck with a slightly tilted die. As long as the weight is with in specs it one of those things that happens. Thanks, Doug.

For color, it's toning or environmental damage. Nothing of value.

Thank you for your input. I definitely need to get the proper tools to examine these coins a little better I suppose. To my naked eye it seemed off but like I said I'm green and just trying to get a feel for what I should be looking for
