Hi luke, welcome to the forum. I have used both, but tend to use Maccas more now as everyone seems to quote from it.

You will find Maccas to be the "Bible" even thought there are errors in it Greg Works hard to improve it each year with the help of other collectors and their feedback.
Almost all collectors have a copy of Maccas

but it is helpful to have a Renniks around

My opinion - even though I have both get Maccas if will give you the easiest to reference guide

I prefer Maccas. I think it has less errors than Renniks but I have both all the same.

I have both books, but have to admit I also prefer Maccas. At least it's updated each year whereas Renniks' last two editions were 3 years apart, 2003 & 2007.

I did a comparison regarding decimal issues & noticed some differences in mintage figures, can't remember what or where now, but it wasn't hugely different. Some day I might find the data & do something with it.

If you're into Aussie Pre-Decimal varieties & errors you might want to also get Renniks Australian Pre-Decimal Coin Varieties, by Ian McConnelly, published in 2005. It doesn't give values, but it's an excellent reference book for noodlers.

I'd love to see a similar book for Decimal coins.

Thankyou Everybody
Sounds like Maccas is the go and I will have a look and check out Renniks Australian Pre-Decimal Coin Varieties book to see if that's what I'm also after.

Thanks
