I know it's not technically an RP-mint mark but it's obviously doubled. Can anyone tell me why and if it may carry a premium? I just found nine of these out of slightly less than a full roll
Rest in Peace

What year is this quarter and would it be possible to get a clear close up of the mint mark and a whole picture of the reverse?

There are many types of doubling http://koinpro.tripod.com/Articles/...Doubling.htm Looks like a worn die issue. It is also on QUARTER DOLLAR.

I just got back into roll hunting after a year to two year break and noticed these replacing $40 of uncirculated rolls with change from my bag. The coins were Harper's ferry 2016s. All from the Cape Cod region since October of last year.

I will try to get more pics later after church. Have only a 4.5x linen tester loupe I'll see if I can take a pic through it

Die Deterioration Doubling commonly affects the mintmark on newer quarters.

Has anyone noticed how soft the strikes are on these new quarters compared to the old ones? Forgive me for being late to the game on this haha. Seems much tougher for me to grade versus traditional Washington's with eagle reverse considering how all the books refer to the hairline for judging ms to au to ex to vf. Au-xf and ms seem tough for me to distinguish considering I'm only able to grade based on the obverse. Any pointers here?

And to the moderators, could this be moved to variety and error subforum. Posted late and didn't realize I was on the main.

Seems like I've seen this where it's more like a shadow in the surface instead of doubling (whether MD or DDD). I wrote it off as metal flow when they're banging these things out. Can't really tell from the photo.
