Some diagnostics for 1814 O-102 R2:

Obverse: Star 1 points to upper half of dentil. Many criss-crossing die lines arranged irregularly around the curl above the clasp. Second "1" in date is low. Milling is usually narrow and incomplete.

Reverse: There is a triangular die mark off of stripe 1 near top, at left. Usually letters of "LIBERTY" are clashed below right wing, and in shield stripe area. "I" centered under left side of "T".

Probably the finest design in US coinage (other than the Buffalo nickel) in my opinion..

Its always nice to see what position the dies were in during the clash. It helps to under stand what a clash is.

Remember also that the out side of the dies that touch is the fields. You can see where the clash was removed on the fields as it looks polished. The rest of the die fields show die flow in them. There is one mark that must have happened when the dies were cleaned to the NE of the eagle. Nothing should have happened in that area, but they must have tried to remove something there. Thus the mark. Great coin and great condition. I can't imagine a price for this one? Very nice find.
