Is this a noticeable error on the "D"? It looks to me that it has a double "D"? any thoughts? Thanks in advanced!

@antmark3d, looks like a re-punched mintmark to me. Have you checked out variety vista yet? There are 14 different RPMs listed there for the '55-D.

I see why Mark would say that, there is a hit on the upper left serif, but I agree with Spence it does look like it could be an RPM, it resembles the RPM-004 in VLDS.

Oh, OK. After looking it up I guess it does resemble it a little - especially the thickness towards the bottom.

Funny, because normally I try to be the biggest skeptic on this stuff. @mark1959, I think that you just out-grouched me.

When I Roll search, if it isn't obvious that is an RPM I don't even bother. Just like die cracks and chips - if they arent big enough I throw them in the change jar. I used to keep them all but after years of searching ya kinda only start keeping the "good stuff"

Looks more like stage C. But check for die scratches to see if they match up to any posted in the above link.

I agree with 004. Placement is correct & you can see the upper curve inside the primary D near the top. Nice find.

Don't feel bad - those Variety Vista links never work for some reason. See if this works http://varietyvista.com/
