Hello. This is probably the best 1914h florin on ebay currently. As far as 1914h florins go - it's exceptional, but it doesn't come cheap. It has a few minor issues, and I cannot grade it confidently on the photos alone. The coin is in England, so no look before buy is possible. There is no doubt at all it is at least EF, but there is doubt in my mind as to whether I could get an AU53/55 on it - which is what I want. With this date, that one grade step is a thousand dollars. A nice coin and very rare in that condition. Any input appreciated .. Cheers and happy Easter CCF. Edited by CoinOS 03/28/2018 8:56 pm

Not a bad looking coin. You say you want AU55 but if it only makes AU53 will it be a coin you regret buying? If you are content with it making 53 and the price is OK then you just need to ask yourself are there any issues that will cause the TPG not to grade it? I can't see any significant issues although I'd ask the seller about things a photo might not show (like hairlines). And a joyous Easter to you and all CCF members

Based on the seller's other pics, I think there are hairlines.

NE Quote: if it only makes AU53 will it be a coin you regret buying? Yes, somewhat. Ech Quote: I think there are hairlines I think you are right. The seller's photography is well above par. It's odd that those lines are barely visible on the top down photo but obvious here. A pity if that is a no grade because the coin is quite rare in premium grades.

Based on the pics and those hairlines it would only get a VF in my opinion.

Hi. Quote: Based on the pics and those hairlines it would only get a VF in my opinion. Yeah, I don't know what NGC or PCGS would do with this. In any event those scratches have halted the sale for me. Just for fun, in case people here haven't seen it - here is one of the seven known specimen 1914H florins and as far as I know the only one currently for sale: $125,000 On perfect coins you can see the annoyed look on the Emu and also the kangaroo looks like it wants a fight ..

TPG's would give this one a "details" grade for the old cleaning.

Quote: Did you buy it No. 1914h florins are among my favourite coins to chase, but she wanted a thousand and I decided it has too many issues for that amount. Nice examples of this date pop up from time to time at European and US auctions.
