This is my first post to this forum, have been wanting to post this quarter for a while to get some thoughts on it and I finally read the directions/guidlines on how to do it so here we go. . .
I found this Virginia State Quarter in my change a while back that was missing a digit in the date on the reverse. The first zero in 2000 is missing. Upon closer inspection I can just make out a faint remnant of a portion of the zero. It's almost as if it has melted away. Also the "ibu" in pluribus which is directly below the missing zero also appear to be somewhat "melted". These three letters are not as crisp as the rest of the lettering and are not as high in relief as the rest of the letters. Has anyone seen a similar coin defect before where a number in the date is missing? Any thoughts/educated guesseson a rough value would be appreciated and would it be worth sending the coin out to be graded?
Below are the images, I can post more angles if need be.

very nice! I had one some time ago like it not sure what state, wish I kept it.. not sure about value but IMO the date is a good spot to have a week strike.

to CCF. Not a weak strike. It looks like a Grease Filled Die issue. Not much if any premium, but looks cool.

with this being a Grease Filled Die strike. Nice find but alas not much numismatic premium.

A few years ago, I found a "200" dime (it looks like a 2004) and thought I had a rare error, only to find out that it's just a Greaser. Oh well, I learned from it. This is certainly a better example than mine, though.

Thanks everyone for the replies. Guess I'll have to keep on looking for that retirement coin! Think I'll hold on to it anyways.
