to CCF. I think only one MM style was used in 1985. Placement varies because until 1990 MM's were hand placed on each working die. What is your exact question about the MM?

looks like the left D is slightly thinner and doesn't have the "tails" to the left of the D... but if I'm not mistaken the 80s had all types of striking problems with the new mix of metals could be that or many things.
Rest in Peace

85 still had hand applied mint marks, I believe. So the position of the mint mark might look several ways in several places.

But your question does prove you are looking closely. Keep at it and you'll find something yummy.

Thanks for the response John. Being new to this I'm not asking complete questions. I'll try and do better. As a coin collector would I not want to collect the different die varieties? I have seen this slanted D on the 1973, 1985, 1986 and a few others.

Keep in mind that the mint mark punch just didn't happen once. It had to punched several times to get desired dept. Not deep enough the it isn't as large. So it is common to see mint marks that look a bit different. But if the punch is different, then they will more different. Some years as many as three different mint mark punches:

On the example above, did anyone note that all three are RPMs?
