Hi all! New feller here. Just started paying attention to coins. Found this one that what I think is a 4 is barely visible on date. Is this something of value or am I just hopeful?

After taking a closer look, there is an inverted 0 so its maybe a 2000 penny? Like the stamp was wrong?

@stallstall, first welcome to CCF. Second, while I can't tell by your pic whether you have a cent from 2000 or 2004, it is most likely that this coin was struck from a die that had some grease in the crevices for the last digit in the date. No numismatic premium for this minor error. The surface staining makes me wonder whether the copper plating has broken down exposing the zinc core. I'd spend this cent before it really starts to disintegrate.

Looks like a spender. The damage on the coin voids any potential error. The strike was normal, damage happened to the coin. If the last digit was there, it is removed. If it wasn't there (because of a Struck Through Grease issue) the general condition of coin void any premium. Spendable.
