jeffreyice1: Count the number of Berries on the wreath going around the eagle on the reverse- its either going to be 16 or 17. I have found that if you only have one berrie on the right, on the upper left wreath- (nearest the ER in America)is a 16 Berry Morgan. Then go to VamWorld, look up Morgans by date- click on 1921P and match your coin to the listed Vams- *in looking at your coin- it seems to be a Vam3 also -16 berries with a little spike coming of off the F in OF on the Reverse. (Very nice coin BTW!) Try and match is up with other Vam3 etc's under 16 berries if it is. Good Luck. Here are some pics of the berries. Picture 3 is the one to look close at- for either one or two berries. Hope this was helpful- I'm sure the resident experts on VAM's will give you better help than I can- II'm getting better at it, but I'm still a "NEWBIE" Image: 1921P16BerriesVam3jpeg1.jpg59.44 KB Image: 1921P16BerriesVam3jpeg2.jpg63.81 KB Image: 1921P16BerriesVam3jpeg3.jpg61.11 KB

I'm going to say 17- I believe all Morgans, outside of 1921 are 17 Berries- However, the Mint made a ton of 1921 Morgans- and there might be more 16 Berry than 17 Berry versions made just for 1921- I'm not sure- The experts on VAM's know! *Regarding my 1921P Morgan- Mr Jack Lee has examined pictures I sent to him and its his expert opinion that the coin is in the Vam3BA area d-2 Reverse etc , BUT its not a Vam3BA because of the difference of die gouges etc on BOTH WINGS. He has recommended sending it to Mr Van Allen for a closer look and decision as to where this coin belongs regarding VAM'S. Also, the die gouge at the bottom wreath is a staple scratch, not a gouge, and there might be something going on regarding a incused letter by the hairline. I'm going to send the coin out. As soon as I hear anything, I'll post the results.

Just got the coin back from Mr Van Alen. Its a 17 Berry 1921P, not 16Berry- ( MYFAULT!)- missed the smaller berry on the left in the uppermost right leaf cluster- The coin is a VAM 1G, From Mr. Van Allen: "Gouge at eagle's rt wing tip is shown for VAM1G in 2004 VamSupplement. Your coin has some die wear so doesn't show as many polishing lines in that area. But the few remaining match photo. Also scribbling die scratches at eagle's rt leg match photo for VAM 1G taken in Aug 07. Revised description of VAM 1G includes polishing lines around TED & ES OF A and die gouge below F of OF." Thanks for sharing your dollar varieties! Your Truly, Leroy Van Allen Its not a new VAM, but at least I now know what VAM it is
