This Lincoln Cent looks to me to have the 7 stamped over top of a ground down 2. The thing that strikes me about it is that the leg of the 7 is straight and doesn't follow the curvature of the 2 beneath it. I can probably get some better pics but here's these.

to CCF. It is a 1962-D with damage on the 2 making it look like a 7. So, it is PSD=Post Mint Damage. Pics are fine.

Thanks John1 for your reply. I thought that might be the case after I posted it, weird how that happens. Seems like the 2 was smudged north/west by something flat but it seemed odd that there was no other indication of damage to the rim of the coin. Probably happened when it was fairly new. Thanks again, very helpful.
Rest in Peace

Gumball Machine Damage. How can I tell? The date is in the range for this type of issue on coins to be altered by a machine. Also damage if parallel to the rim. Denoting that is was machine altered rather than coin contact.

wow! you guys are awesome. It's pretty cool you got it down to the actual type of machine that did this! Ha! Ha! I bet you're right, I remember how those machines used to jam the coins sometimes, but... I don't remember the ones that gave you candy for a penny (before my time). Thanks alot for the replies.
Rest in Peace
