So I couldn't help but notice the small indent on the 2 and 7 of the date. Under further inspection, I think I can see doubling on some of the letters of IN GOD WE TRUST. I'll leave it to you guys to see what you think about it. I believe it looks very similar to this variety. http://www.varietyvista.com/01b%20L...2PDDO010.htm

Sorry that is one of the 50% cents with the master die doubling. On the one you were linking it to, it is above the cross bar that the doubling is on.

Note on the last image of that page, on the cross bar is where the doubling is. Yours is normal.

There are three areas I first look at on ALL 1972's (P,D,S)and that is the upper left corner od D for notch, The N for the raised inside portion of the left upright, and the upper left tip of the you for NW doubling. There are many other points to determine MDD, but I find these to be the easiest for me.

What would I be looking for in those specific areas? What is there in those specific points that I'm looking for to determine if it is an MD or true doubling?

When you look at your coin, the doubling on it is "Master" die doubling. This created hubs/dies with the same master doubling on about 50% of the cents that year. (making it a common cent)
1972-P-Penny-DDO-010-Maybe? on the real doubled dies, you could check this web site and see what the real hub doubling will look like:

I have made a thread also for this subject with larger images:

Hope this helps. If not, ask another question.
