Unknown-Token-Resembling-5-Lire-1848,-Italy-Lombardy-Venetia-Revol.-Govt.

The diameter is 30 mm. The weight is 10.6 grams.

The letters do not form any recognizable words, and are themselves in different orientations as well as backwards and forwards.

The token resembles the Lombardy-Venetia Revolutionary Provisional Government 5 Lire of 1848, but not in size.

Perhaps this was from a game of some sort, but I do not know, so I am asking the group if they recognize this or can explain the origin/ purpose.

Looks like coinquest already discussed this (just a fake):

Coinquest calls it a novelty piece but doesn't have any more information.

I guess that this will remain one of those oddities whose purpose and maker will remain unknown.

We have seen numerous examples of this piece on the forum over the years, so whatever exactly they are, they're not rare. Here, here, and here are some examples, with some theories on what they might be.

Once again, I should have searched the forum before asking!

The proverb is true that there is nothing new under the sun.

I actually made an account just to share this with you guys, this coin is something I have in my collection, the difference being I actually remember where this came from. I had a magician kit when I was a kid and it included a shadow box, basically a box you could put a small object inside and make "disappear". This coin is the object that came with the box as the object meant to disappear into it. Basically a prop from a magician kit.
