Hi, I have what may be a collection of error coins, lowball coins, or damaged coins. I am hoping someone can tell me if they think the coin in the attached image is damaged or possibly has a rim or other kind of error. The rim, or band (collar?) near the word trust is completely missing.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

You may have a coin that was struck with a slightly misaligned die (MAD) or a slight off-center strike. A pic of the reverse is needed to determine which.

I'd guess a minor misaligned die scenario, not significant enough to attract an error collector. The serious rim dings have destroyed whatever numismatic value this common-date dollar once had. Worth silver value only IMO.

I imagine it would not be too difficult to damage a Silver coin. The damage on this one just looks odd. Not a ding, almost like the coin was squeezed. I have very little coin experience, and enjoy learning from this coin forum, and appreciate your input.
