Could this be a mint error? I would like to have more information on it. I also have a georgivs v dei gra britt omn rex fid def ind imp one penny from 1944. Second, I agree that while the reverse side of this coin looks unstruck, it almost certainly left the mint with all the reverse details intact. Most likely, someone has planed or sanded down this other side. Can you please post the weight? I'm thinking that your coin may be significantly underweight. If this is a penny, then the weight was about 9.4 g when it was struck.
