Hi,

So this coin looks somewhat normal to me. And since I am starting out... I wanted to make sure this was just a silly type error

Anyways, on the top rim looking at coin dead on seems that the word LIBERTY is squatty... When I went in for a closer look I found that the tops of the word LIBERTY seemed raised extra tall... and LIBERTY seemed to be pressed into a curve up to the rim... Sorry don't have the right lingo here?

Just trying to get feedback here... and maybe a laugh out of you that have more experience...

Thanks!

Actually note the devices again? There is no disturbance on them. They are wide just like a Struck Through Grease error. The problem was a wiping by a cloth on the die, that moved the grease more to the center of the dies devices, preventing the strike there.

I know this was posted 2 years ago. But I have a 1980 p quarter that matches this exactly. Did we determine this to be a grease error? TY for your help!

Also keep in mind that in 1982, this was the last year for the master hub. The hub was swelling out wards. When you look at the history of the year previous to 1983 (the year the master hub recreated) you can see how the devices were moving towards the rim on the die swelling:

So on the 1982 and 1983 side by side you can see how much of a change replacing the master hub, improved the coins devices:

The size of the heads between the two years. Note how much larger the devices are on Liberty. Swelling outwards altered these devices and bust sizes.
