Looks like something struck the cent just below the 4 and pealed a small flap section up which was then pressed down, PMD.

Well note the edge of the cross bar on the 4. It looks like that area in question is partly parallel th\o the rim. So I'm leaning to metal movement from a vending machine (gumball) because of the date of the coin. They were used then. I remember them:
