Hey guys,
Today I picked up a 1838 coronet large cent for a great price. Sorry about the image quality, I will work on it, but what do you guys roughly think about the quality? Also there is some kind of Cud on the star above the hair does that affect the value at all? This is my first 'cherry pick' which I will reveal after a few grading opinions. (If it even turns out to be as good as I hope)...
Thank you all so much!

The coin appears to grade about XF but details because the reverse appears to have corrosion.

the lighting and angle of the obverse makes it difficult to determine surface originality. I'm not convinced the reverse is corroded it may just be just crud, however, if you attempted to remove it with acetone or verdicare the surface may be discolored underneath. depending on how much you spent you might want to give it a shot since it such a common date. I dont think thats a Cud on the obverse. XF45 most likely details as I think it was cleaned as there is too much disparity between the obverse and the reverse surfaces

Nice coin. If you take your time I think all the crud will come off with the help of verdicare.

Well I picked it up for $25, good deal or no? Going to take it to the coin show here in Santa Clara at Levi Stadium on the 20th to see what people think. I'm afraid to clean it without first getting some more opinions.

$25 is a good price with that much detail left. Doubt all the stuff on reverse completely removable but its worth a shot.
