Is anybody else excited about next year's stellar roster of Harrison, Tyler, Polk and Taylor? Are these really the caliber of people who should be seen on change that represents America to the world. Three of the four were so mediocre that they earned a reference in a song aired on the Simpson's. The Simpson's did get one part wrong, they are all being "honored" on the dollar.

Here's the song for those who don't know what I'm talking about:

We are the mediocre presidents.
You won't find our faces on dollars or on cents!
There's Taylor, there's Tyler,
There's Fillmore and there's Hayes.
There's William Henry Harrison;
Harrison:
I died in thirty days!
All:
We...are...the...
Adequate, forgettable,
Occasionally regrettable
Caretaker presidents of the U-S-A

I love the Simpsons!

As for the entire roster of Presidential dollars, we should respect the office enough to honour any person to have ever held it, no matter how underwhelming their term might have been.

I agree with jbuck. Besides, if our criteria were familiarity and significance, I could think of a few states that could've been left out of the State Quarters program. If I knew my history well enough, I am sure there are things that I could say in defense of those presidents.

At least Polk (Napoleon of the Stump) inspired a great song by They Might Be Giants (which I'm sure can be found on youtube).

In 1844, the Democrats were split
The three nominees for the presidential candidate
Were Martin Van Buren, a former president and an abolitionist
James Buchanan, a moderate
Louis Cass, a general and expansionist
From Nashville came a dark horse riding up
He was James K. Polk, Napoleon of the Stump

Gotta love the Johns! Cause they might be giants and what are we going to do unless they are?

Leaving out states in the State Quarter Program?
Leaving out Presidents and just honoring the achieving few ?
There are more than a few Native Americans who'd like to "leave out a few" of these too I suppose !.....and they'd like to have their territory back!
But, no, the programs can't possibly work that way......just honoring "favorites" or opinions of who should be honored.......
But yeah.....I'm not overwhelmed with excitement about next years Presidential dollar coins.....Look at it this way.......THE WHOLE PROGRAM ISN'T EVER GOING TO BE WORTH MUCH MONEY ANYWAY, BECAUSE THEY ARE MINTING WAAAAAAAYYYYYY TOOOOOO MANY OF THESE !!...............
