Hi there,
Because I'm really new at this I'm trying to figure out if this 1989 penny I came across is a mint double die error in the word Liberty or some corrosion /after mint error

Are speaking about the vertical lines to the left of the "I" and "B"

This is not a doubled die. It is the result of die wear.

Some years have larger devices than others. You just have to compare it another example. You can find these examples easy on PCGD site and on "coinfacts" area.

Thanks thats exactly what I need to look at! This macro detecting is really interesting. Its amazing how much one needs to learn in order to start collecting these coins!
