I found this in a roll of pennies yesterday. I think it's really cool! I almost disregarded it, because I figured it was just mutilated in circulcation. But when I took a closer look with a loupe, I saw that part of the word "AMERICA" was imprinted backwards on the spot where VDB usually sits. The bottom two pictures are vertical flips with image overlays, for the sake of reading the error imprint from left to right. Anyway, I'm curious to know what all of you think about it. Interesting/Not? Valuable/Not?

It is a damaged coin. Note it is out of round? Damaged after the strike.

Damaged by the minting machine, then, right? My pictures aren't the greatest, but the reversed (inside out) lettering is unmistakably the same lettering as AMERICA on the back of a Lincoln Cent. I was thinking it might have gotten struck twice, the second time obviously by accident.

No. Damaged on purpose. A couple pieces of wood, two coins and a big hammer usually does the trick. One wack at a construction site, your coin is now damaged. We see this often.

Coop, you're breaking my heart! :) I really thought I found something special. I'm so bummed. Well, the search continues. Anyone want a damaged LMC? Opening bid $999. LOL.

Unfortunately, it's just Post Mint Damage from a Vise-Job. Your coin is worth face value.

You could keep it to show other new collectors an educational piece as what damage looks like on a coin.
