1946 LWC With Strange Markings In The Date.

There are faint marks inside the 9 in the date. The marks appear to possibly form a smaller 9 - partially covered by the actual 9; however, the back of the faint 9 (if that's what it is) is a straight line, unlike the 9 in the date.
I can also see how the marks between the curved end-points of the 9 in the date could be considered an "S".
What do you make of these marks?

The brightness and contrast of the last photo were altered in software to try to enhance the visibility of the markings.
(I figured a full view of the coin would not be necessary in this case; I apologize if that's a bad assumption.)

They may be field marks. They are too small to be legit hub doubling. Die contact will leave raised areas from whatever it collided with. (Not hub doubling)
