Picked this up for $48. This is the Sheldon 294 1A die pairing. It can be identified by the Crosslet 4 in the last digit of the date. All Classic Head Large cents are scarce, but this year had a lower mintage of 357,830. A nice coin minted in the final full year of the War of 1812. Seller's pics differ widely on the appearance of this coin. Looks like a large scratch in the obverse, but it seems to run across the planchet but not through the bust of LIBERTY. Although it seems like it is details, I thought it attractive overall for this scarce issue - and the price was right. Thoughts on grade and problems? Thanks! AG3, possibly details, scratch might not be as noticeable in hand.

My new grade is G Details, scratched. The enormous scratches make the eye appeal extremely low.

Wow, what a difference in pictures! G4 details, scratch. Still cool for a 200 year old copper.

This is blown up under harsh lighting. I actually looks much better in hand, but it is a scratched coin.
