The rim around the penny isn't raised like all the other ones it's like the center of the coin is higher then the edge.

It's beat to death. If a cent could be worth less than a cent... But really, keep looking we have folks report neat finds here almost every day. And

This might also be a coin that was previously encased.

@suspense, yes I see what you are seeing. The rim of your cent was damaged, exposing the zinc core. This has caused the rim to preferentially corrode. You can seafely spend this one.

Looks like a lake cent to me. When you pass by a lake, toss it in.

I think I'll keep it and see how long it takes for the rot to totally consume it. I made a promised the ladies I would clean out any cruddy coins from the rolls they save for me.
