I'll most definitely post pics when I get it! NGC just shipped the coin back so it should come sometime this week.

Good god! Look at the hairlines on the obverse. Did they scrub it with a brillo pad? Sorry bro. I would demand my money back and write a review. It just goes to show once again that the 'restoration' services are absolutely useless.

Yeah this is terrible. I might as well have just sent it in without conserving it They totally ruined the coin. I'm truly hoping it doesn't look as bad in hand as it does in these pics. How would I go about with demanding my money back? I'm definitely gonna do that. I didn't pay money for them to scrub my darn coin clean.

I would tend to believe that NGC conservaion services used to be good but I think that times have changed. From my experience it seems as though they have hired some younger talent that are just not that familiar with how to conserve properly and do not have supervision (the TPG's just trying to save on costs). I am sure that some coins needing conservation are fairly simple and anyone could take care of but coins like this one and my example should have been dealt with by a more experienced conservationist. Does anyone have an example of a successful conservation of a coin that has been done in the last 6 months to a year? I haven't seen anything good in quite a while.

Well, I think we should all have a pretty good idea now as to why the 'slightly odd toning' was applied to this piece.
