Another "junk" bin rescue. Amazingly for the amount of wear it's sustained the date of 1820 is still readable (the "0" is set a bit high). Seemed at first clearly British to me, but with a diameter of 27.6 mm, it sits squarely in between the sizes of the farthing and halfpenny of the era. Weight (surely reduced significantly at this point) is 6.27 grams.

I apologize in advance if this is something terribly common that I should've been able to identify....

The obverse is very similar to that of the 1820 "North West Company" beaver tokens (of which almost all known are holed), but taken as a whole, the obverse and reverse bear a passing resemblance to the Jersey copper tokens of 1813-1815 with the COMMERCE reverse (later copied in modified form for the obverse of the US Trade dollar.)

However, that being said, the bust also bears a strong resemblance to George III, and the reverse could be a flat "commerce" Britannia, as seen on the Canadian blacksmith tokens, so I started thinking in that direction since the ones I mentioned above are both rare and quite expensive.

After some digging, I believe your token is a match for an 1820-dated Lower Canada blacksmith token with George III obverse; search for Breton 1011 or LC-57A1 for one that looks quite awfully similar. Since they were designed to pass as regal coins, they were made to appear exceptionally worn, with garbled legends or no legends at all mimicking the appearance of a heavily-circulated copper. They were struck to the old (pre-Soho) halfpenny planchet standard (i.e. 27mm and 6.3g) which fits in well with your example.

Paralyse is right, that is clearly BR: 1011, which has the high 0 in the 1820 date.

Photos can be found here: http://www.coinsandcanada.com/token...-1820&id=203

The value isn't super high because pre-confederation tokens are a niche area of collecting and I think there was a horde with a bunch of these found a while ago, but it's really neat anyway!
