So, I was looking through my grandfather's coin collection that I inherited, and I noticed there was an album full of old and foreign currency. I came across the Canadian section and I saw a large cent that said 1805. I googled it and it said they didn't make them in 1805. Intentional or error? Common or rare? Real or counterfeit? Please Help!

Probably an 1895 that was altered outside the mint.

I don't think Victoria reigned in 1805 anyway...

Seriously though, the only option looks to be a 9 but there is not even a slight hook to show evidence of the 9.

It's a hand-modified 1895. Clearer photos will show the irregularities on the left side and partial bottom. You can tell that the whole digit is rotated clockwise a bit to make the oval more natural. A very nice garage or workshop job.
