I am putting together a higher grade Morgan set. I am interested in purchasing a coin though wanted your opinions. This coin has been graded by ICG. How do their grades stand up to PCGS and NCG, and finally what grade do you think for this coin? Thank you all for your input as it is always appreciated.

Looks 64 to me but I could see it in a 65 holder. Many issues that would preclude choosing this coin for me. There are many coins of this date/mm to choose from

Technical Grade 65. Eye Appeal 8/10.

ICG is not well respected, but this a beautiful Morgan.

As you may know, this is a common coin in 65, and not scarce in 66.

MS-65. I was always a proponent of buy the coin, not the holder but when it comes time to sell you would be far better off with the PCGS/CAC combination and especially so with a higher grade set.

I'd put a 64 on it--even with the scrape on the eagles breast.
ICG probably tagged it a 65.
It seems CC coins get more leniency with grades. I am not sure why.

Nice looking coin - strong 64, might make 65 on a good day! I'd bet ICG went 65

It's a strong 64+ or an average 65.

Carson city coins were shipped from the mint by stagecoach. It's actually a miracle that any of them survived in a high state considering the rough ride they endured.

Agree with the technical grade, but I only see the eye appeal as a 6/10. I would look for a semi-pl more heavily frosted example, they are out there.

I personally like the ICG holders themselves, but as stated, ICG grading is very inconsistent. I like it, and if it matches your set and budget, it should holder at PCGS, but again as above likely lower than ICG grade. MS64 shot at 65. Crack it out before sending it if you decide to purchase.

Hard to tell if that scrape on the eagle breast might look worse with different lighting, but otherwise it looks like a solid 65.
