This isn't really a big deal but I thought it was really neat and wanted to share. Sometimes when I'm bored I search rolls of lincoln cents for error coins. Today I pulled a 1909. I couldnt beleive it. Unfortunately it wasnt an s or svdb but it was still a neat find. Its in AG condition. Anyone ever found anything this old in a roll?

That's a great find! You occasionally hear of someone finding an Indian Head cent - that's probably the only thing older that you could REASONABLY expect to find in a roll from the bank.

I found 2 1909 VDB cents in roll searching last year. I gave one to Sue (MOM) from this site to give away on a guessing game or free give away. I think Nancy won it. the other I gave to a YC on my MSN forum. funny thing though. one box came from NH a friend sent me and the other box came from a local bank here in Tucson. both coins found in the same week. now try to figure that one out lol

Yea you never know. Another strange coin I found is a 1982 in unc with no lincoln in the memorial. Actually its just very weak, with a magnifying glass you can barely see something. At first I thouhgt he was just worn off but the coin is in great shape and the pillars show no sign of wear. Interesting.

I did find a 1909 VDB in G, but it was in an old change jar in my grandparents' basement, so that sort of counts.

I found a 1918 this week and a 1988 10 cent piece from Singapore. The 10 cent piece is the same size and weight as a zinc penny.

Thats cool. Today I found a 1955 55s and 53 in unc. Somebody must have dumped their wheat collection into the coinstar because these coins were flawless and shiny like a 2008. Not worth much but beautiful wheaties non the less.
