Can we see a picture of the edge of the coin? Right now though it looks like some fashion of PMD.

Thanks for the new pics. From those, it looks plated to me. But let's see what the experts have to say.
Rest in Peace

If it was missing a clad layer it would generally be on one side only and the details wouldn't be filled out and distinct...the coin would be thinner and not fill out when stamped. Also a missing layer would be noticeably lighter.

It's been plated. Not a mint error.

@marcc, I agree that this coin has been plated or exposed to a chemical. If you look closely at the reverse, you can see where the golden layer has been worn away and the natural silver color of the coin is starting to peek back through. While these coins are "rare" in the sense that most have not been plated, this is always done after the coin has left the mint and therefore adds no value to the coin. More can be generated at any point in time in someone's garage, so their relative scarcity has little meaning.

Certainly save it if you want--the cost is low and it is kinda neat to look at, but know that it will never be worth more than face value.

When plated it is no longer a collectors item to a true collector. It is an altered coin. spendable.
