First, need to give serious thanks to the member that I made a purchase from. When the padded envelope arrive, contents were missing, and the mailer was stamped by the post office as "received damaged contents".

Imagine my surprise when I reached in the mailbox to find an empty bubble mailer. Took pictures and emailed to seller. Reply was, "Sorry. Will send refund ASAP." Yes, I have purchased from the seller before and always received great communication and items.

Went to the post office. They asked what was contained in the envelope. They advised to file a "missing mail claim" online. ....and I spent a half hour on the postal website filling out the necessary info. (Top right of the http://www.usps.gov website, click on "HELP" and select "missing mail" from the drop down menu)

Today, 4 days after arrival of empty package, I received a phone call from the local post office, asking me to describe what was supposed to be in the package. After confirmation, they said to stop by the post office to pick up the items.

Honestly, I thought the contents were loooooong gone. So, I guess you never know.

From a former mail carrier, I say you are fortunate. Th PO does try to do a good job, as well as any, there are bad apples tho. Those bubble mailers use show are indeed the problem. The ends don'r have any bubble wrap. If there is a sliding inside content, say in a cardboard insert, that edge can poke through very easy. One a tear starts, it can go all the wat in a transport container being jostled around. The best is a plasticized outer shell w/bubble wrap all around, you will never have trouble. Can't tell ya how many times I or someone else had to tape or body bag a busted up parcel due to it splitting from the way it was packed or the contents wrong fof the container.

That's certainly a nice ending to the tale, but a rare one, unfortunately.

I'm just wondering what the contents were...

Packages need to be sealed, packing tape is your friend.

Nice to see a happy ending.

I've always found USPS employees to be hard-working and trustworthy. Their services sometimes lag their "promised" delivery dates (First Class can take up to 10 days in Eastern Michigan), but all in all they do a great job.
