I got some nickels today and 5 rolls are 2017 d. I opened a couple of the rolls and they do have full steps but I'm not sure if people are interested in them or send them to coinstar.

Modern nickels like that are expected to have full steps as far as strike quality. Beyond that, it depends on the grade and any hits/marks in the area that may inhibit it grading FS.

So, if you have some really high grade examples (MS-67 and above) they may be worth holding onto.

Before you dump them at least look through all of those with a good magnifying glass and pick out at least 10 of the very best. This newer design nickel is difficult to find with nick/scratch free surfaces.
Just looking closely and soon you will see what I'm talking about. Well, that's what I would do.

These are very common ... but I do indeed appreciate your interest and continued good questions ... we are here to help.

If you keep any - make them for your own personal collection.

Forget grade and potential TPG opinion ...your roll found Jefferson of this date likely contain all FS examples ... and all likely contain bag hits sufficient to keep them away from the true MS69 or so.

Enjoy your finds - but do know that most (nearly all) modern coin finds are worth face value ... but still indeed treasures to us collectors.
