Don't know what (if anything) I have here, but, received it in change from a Wendy's over the weekend. It appears to be a penny that was struck on some other material. Much of the copper has worn off. Is this typical, or is it an anomaly? I've never seen anything like it (and I'm 62 :) )Thank you, in advance, for any insights.

Usually the dryer cents are rolled over.

Cents from mid 1982 to present except some 2009 cents have a zinc core and are copper plated. The copper has just been removed down to the zinc core. I saw one a few days ago in about the same shape. Not big deal. Just spend it.

@aredubjay, first welcome to CCF. Whether the source of the damage is a dryer or something else, this cent is worth only face value. I hope that you stick around and show us some of your other pieces!
