Your still looking at the sides of the devices. The spread for a doubled die is in the center of the devices. If the devices are distorted, enlarged, then it is a doubled die. Seethe area you are looking at? One area is higher than the other are.that is because the strike happened, the the dies damaged the raised devices, now making it lower. The lower area is always flat, it looks the same color because it is flat. A doubled die will show contour making light change from light to dark. Machine Doubling doesn't show this.
