Anyone dare to guess.Dang toning always throws me off a little. Its a raw coin and I probably paid too much, but the 1917-D is somewhat hard to find in a decent grade.

Looks AU-58FH. Very nice strike. Is the pic from a scanner and doesn't pick-up the toning or luster?

Ken,
It's pictures, not scans. There's just so much toning on the coin that it covers any luster there is.Even the center fields where the coin looks somewhat cleaner there is still a light grayish toning covering it. The seller said you can see the luster with the coin in hand.

I have purchased a number of coins from this dealer and have never been disappointed. So I'm taking their word. They also have a 30 day return so no worries there.

TLS5933,
I like it. The obverse appears to have some rub on her leg so I limited it to the AU grade. I agree the 17D is a tough coin in high grades so I think it's a good investment.

From the pics provided, there appears to be some slight wear on Liberty's right lower leg. The head looks full, but it is tough to tell from the small pics. I would go au-58, most likely FH. And it's toned!

I agree with AU-58 and definitely FH. Very sharply struck overall. I'd love to see this coin under a good light; I expect it is highly lustrous under the tone.

Like Amac said, please post it when you get it back!

Thanks Everyone,
Its headed to ANACS next week. I will post pics when I get it back. An AU-58 grade would be fine with me and anything higher would be gravy.
