This was absolutely caked with black whatever it was, we've all seen it. Looked close and saw it was an 83 so I cleaned it up a bit. This was a pleasant surprise.

Well I can see it is a zinc cent. There are split plating bubbles in the bays. More debris on the reverse. But it is a spender. You can buy BU rolls of these.

I like my pennies like I like my tuna, caught in the wild. I've never bought a roll for more than 50 cents. This is the first I've found with this much zinc showing. When I saw it showing I said a really short, heartfelt prayer it would be a DDR...
